LIFE DISCIPLESHIP STUDY
FIVE PRINCIPLES OF A HEALTHY CHURCH BODY
Over the next five weeks or more, we will study the five guiding principles of a healthy church body: humility, unity, diversity, purity, and charity. We want you to learn the five principles by meditating on the teachings you will receive, so you can conform your character to these principles (Joshua 1:8). We will know these principles are being applied when members of our church body work interdependently, which results in our flourishing, both relationally and numerically.
STUDY 1: PRINCIPLE OF HUMILITY
Humble ourselves
Learn what the word of God says about humility, and how we as Christ Followers should demonstrate it to one another.
Humility is a Christlike trait. Jesus devoted Himself to a lifestyle of humility during His walk on earth. We are instructed to first humble ourselves under God’s mighty hand, which comes with a promise of exaltation (I Peter 5:6). When we humble ourselves under the hand of God, doing so will affect all our other relationships.
STUDY 2: PRINCIPLE OF UNITY
One body United
Learn what the word of God says about unity and how Christ Followers should demonstrate in the church and to each other.
Unity is being one body united with one another in fellowship. God created the world to operate in unity, so together we can carry out His purpose. The goal of any church is unity. In unity is where the church can be a powerful force for the Lord.
STUDY 3: PRINCIPLE OF DIVERSITY
One body United
God crated diverse parts and made them dependent one another, so they can become the whole.
Diversity Christ followers work interdependently with one another, even though their roles and gifts may differ. Each member should know their different gifts and roles in the Body of Christ, so they can workinterdependently together as one through humility and unity.
