Firstfruits
We are Blessed to be a Blessing
Each year in January, as a fellowship of Covenant Followers of Christ, we observe the Firstfruits principle! In 2025, we will observe Firstfruits January 6 – 10.
What is Firstfruits?
Pray | Fast | Give
God commanded Israel to bring the first of the best of the harvest to Him for worship. Firstfruits symbolized Israel’s faith in God to give Him the first of the best of the harvest and He would bless the rest of the harvest. (Deuteronomy 26:11)
Why & How we Observe Firstfruits
Why we Observe Firstfruits
We pause to ponder so we can recognize the faithfulness of God and our trust in Him this past year. We then seek Him first and His kingdom in January of the new year, so God will bless the rest of the year. (Matthew 6:33).
How we Observe Firstfruits
We designated the 6th – 10th of January as our first days and Firstfruits offering to God. We will pray, fast and give.
We Pray
Matthew 6:9-13
We have devotion and prayer each day Prayer Conference Call from 6 – 6:30 AM Monday – Friday.
Dial: (302) 202-1102
Access Code: 761734
Our Prayer FOCUS
1) Devotion: we may have a thirst for God, which leads us to practice His presence is with us by His Spirit.
2) Unity: we walk in covenant agreement to promote (uphold), protect (cover), and prosper (bless) our church
family.
3) Family: marriages remain intact, children follow their parents as they follow Christ, wisdom in handling finances to have more than enough.
4) Purity: we fear God and forsake sin and live holy lives separate from the world, we are
able to discern between good and evil, so we can make wise choices.
5) Miracles: the impossible become possible.
6) Boldness: we stand by our convictions and
share our biblical truth against opposing cultural views, believing God is in control
and will take care of us no matter the outcome.
7) Small groups: each member is perfectly joined with other members to help one another grow, so the whole Body of NWCC is healthy, growing, and full of love.
8) Evangelism: we have a heart for the lost and seek to share our witness with them.
9) Government: we pray for our civic leaders that they choose the way of the Lord as they govern our nation, states, and cities, so our land will have the peace and prosperity of the Lord.
Corporate Prayer
- Saturday, Jan 11 from 8:00 – 9:00 AM
- Sunday, Jan 12 from 9:00 – 9:45 AM
Every Sunday morning in January, we will continue in-person Corporate Prayer from 9:40 am – 10:00 AM in the church sanctuary.
“We want every Covenant Christ follower of our community to participate with us by being on the line for oneness and sharing in devotion and prayer as He leads us to hearing from God as He speaks to us. We’re expecting unusual faith, miracles, deliverance, souls to be saved, and awakening.”
We Fast
Matthew 6:16-18
Normal Fast – abstaining from all foods, drinking water only.
- Starting at 12:01 AM, January 6 – 10, from the time we wake until 3 PM, Monday – Friday
- We will not fast on the weekends.
Precautions
Please use wisdom!
If you’re taking medications, please consult your physicians before the fast. You may experience dizziness, headaches, or nausea, or experience constipation. Drink plenty of water, limit your physical activities, do not take baths/showers that are too hot, and get plenty of rest.
Also, you may experience sensitivity and become easily irritated!
Also abstain from a specific appetite, Monday thru Friday, after 3pm that is a sacrifice that would honor God.
We Give
Acts 4:32
We ask each of our Covenant Christ Followers to give a Firstfruits offering. This enables us to support various charitable organizations and support the needs of our church family.
Firstfruits Offering
Our Covenant Followers are asked to give Firstfruits offerings by doubling their tithes and offerings in the month of January.
Example
Normally, John Does gives a regular tithe of $200 per month and a seed offering of $100 per month, for a total of $300.
During Firstfruits, John will give another $300 to our Firstfruits offering. So, for the month of January, John’s giving will total $600.
Important: Please keep separate your tithes and offerings from your Firstfruits offering by designation on your offering envelope or on your online giving.
What is the Goal?
Deconstruct to Reconstruct our Faith in Christ
Goal: 100% PARTICIPATION – #ALLIN #ONENESS #CommUNITY
Doctrine: We observe Firstfruits as a spiritual principle that the “first” belongs to God and God blesses the rest. We DO NOT believe Firstfruits is an obligation for the church to observe based on Israel and the Old Testament Law.
